Educational Gerontology:

A Division of the Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG)

The Educational Gerontology Division is organized for members of the CAG in order to serve those members interested in research, pedagogy, and program development in educational gerontology. The Division provides a forum for research and dissemination of knowledge regarding this rapidly developing field of study and practice.

The Division was established to identify members' common concerns and interests; to suggest ways that these concerns and interests can best be represented and expressed within the programs and services of CAG; and when appropriate to forward recommendations from its members to the Board of CAG and the general membership of the Association.

The following objectives are suggested by the focus of this Division:

  • To be a resource within the CAG that promotes educational initiatives to help the general public understand the complex issues of aging in Canadian society,
  • To support the dissemination of research findings and programmatic information among members of the Division on topics relevant to educational gerontology through the services of CAG, and
  • To submit and present research, symposium, and discussion papers at the Annual Scientific and Educational Meeting of the Association.
