Divisions - Terms of Reference

Committee Name

Purpose:

To represent the members of each Division and to pursue the mandate and interest of the CAG through the Divisions. In addition, representatives of each Division on the Board of Directors provides an avenue for the Divisions membership to have their voice heard at the Board.

Objectives:

  1. Provides assistance to the ASEM Committee in:
    • Program Development
      o Theme
      o Keynote Speaker
      o Division luncheon meeting and speaker
      o On-site Division meeting coordination
    • Promoting abstract submissions
    • Encouraging inter-divisional sessions
    • Recommending chairs for the Divisional sessions
    • Obtaining Continuing Medical Education Credits where appropriate
  2. To recruit new divisional members to the Divisions and to develop incentives for membership retention.
  3. To ascertain the needs, concerns and issues of CAG members.
  4. To develop position papers, policy statements and opinions on key issues in gerontology and geriatrics.
  5. To organize meetings with the Divisional membership and perform other tasks as assigned by the Board.
  6. To submit to the newsletter on a regular basis.
  7. To encourage submissions to the Journal.
  8. To represent the Division at the Annual Meeting of the CAG.
  9. To encourage nominees for CAG awards.
  10. To encourage applications (submissions) for CAG bursaries.
  11. To support the mentoring of students within CAG.

Composition:

A Chair from each Division on the CAG Board

Term of Office:

Two (2) years.

Frequency of Meetings:

Two face to face meetings (Spring and Fall) and teleconference meetings as required.
